An Elegy for the Fallen

Written by Tsalth anl’Ornath, Wavesinger, after the Spring Parliament of 1102, when six Lions lost their lives.

I mourn, for bright torches have dimmed in the world.
Close friends from our sides have been torn;
Six bright-burning lights we would fain not have lost
To the dark of the oncoming storm.

Though taken far hence, they remain in our hearts
And while memory lasts, there they'll stay;
And I know when our time comes to walk that last road,
They'll be waiting to light up our way.

But is the night darker, now that they are gone?
No. The heavens have new stars tonight.
A new constellation shines out 'gainst the dark
With a blazing, imperishable light.
